Post Reply Mac or PC?

As a lifelong PC user (by default more than anything), I never usually even consider buying Apple stuff - too expensive for a tightwad like me, for a start. I made an exception recently and bought an Apple keyboard having spilled water on my previous one. It works fine with my Dell laptop.

Here's the thing - it's a dream to use. You can type at supersonic speeds on it without any wrist strain and hardly any noise. It's designed beautifully as well - every "nice little touch" has been thought of. So now I'm thinking back to my decades of PC-related trauma and wondering if I can send Bill Gates a bill for stress treatment for all the times my PC refused to speak to its peripherals or other times the darn thing drove me up the wall.

Anyway - which are you, Mac or PC?!

I've always been a PC man, but again it's just to do with cost. My laptop cost me £400, not sure that would be possible with a mac!

Absolutely right Feds, think the cheapest Mac is £700 so we'll have to wait til we're millionaires!

Well there is a euromillions rollover so i've heard, but that would be a hard win!

Having been a Mac man all my life I relished the opportunity recently to have a dual boot laptop on my macbook pro. Basically this means due to Apple investing in Intel dual processor chips you can run windows natively on a Mac. This means I can run all of the games and pc based apps on XP, and then restart my laptop and then run all of the lifestyle apps like itunes and surf the net in safety in Mac OS. I love having that the best of both worlds, and if any of you are thinking of going over to Mac then this is a great way to have your cake and eat it :)

As for the machine itself, its very well made with a high speed processor and good graphics card, the build quality is second to none and actually the prices on most Apples is relatively comparable to simular spec'd well built PCs like Sony Viao, or Dell XPS. I've always considered that they are worth the money I have paid for them, good things are well worth shedding a extra few pounds to buy, after all you can't take it with you when you go so you may as well enjoy it while your here :P

Hope that helps.

I have always used a PC but the dual boot does sound very interesting. I have an iPod Touch and I like the way it's designed and its ease of use. So I have a feeling I would like the Mac too. I would always like the option to go back to the PC though.

To be honest I don't know if Macs are any better, they just seem like a boys' toy to me, all flash and no substance! But maybe some of you can prove me wrong ;)
