did Giggs get the sympathy vote from his fellow professionals having never won the PFA award or did he truely deserve it for his mid season form this season?

I think it was the sympathy vote. Giggs has been consistently good for a number of years but not get the recognition. Saying that, no one else has really stood out as player of the season?

i think players have stood out since the vote took place in January! gerrard has pulled liverpool along all season and lampard has been as impressive as ever for chelsea and didnt even feature. Giggs does not play week in week out either so seems a bit unfair that he gets an award when others play consistently every week!

Definately the sympathy vote, it should have gone to someone whos been consistent for the whole season like Vidic or even someone like Hangeland.
The young players award should definately have gone to Stephen Ireland, about 13 goals from midfield and good all season! Young slumped just at the crucial time.

very good points feds, vidic has had maybe 2 bad games all season and fulham have kept a lot of clean sheets for an unfashionable and unfancied team
totally agree with ireland as well, but man city being mid table maybe didnt help his cause. i think that the votes are just far to early in the season, and no real need to be that early either.

The votes were so early that people were voting based on his performance in 1994.

Ireland is prob a good choice. He has carried Man City, with the foreign contingent playing in fits and starts!!!
Funniest thing this season is Man U, it is like they don't want to win the title!

its easy to say that it looks like man u dont want to win it, but i think the long season is taking its toll, they have had too many games and so had to rest key players which has made the team more disjointed. the league has many different pressures and also being the champions, every team wants to beat you to say they beat the champions of england and the world!

How dreadful were Arsenal last night? :-D (sorry Arsenal fans!)
Tips to win tonight???

As an Arsenal fan, i'd have to admit we were terrible over 2 legs, although we were undone by some bad luck last night, which meant it was never a contest. We looked very bright and purposeful before Gibb's slipped over.
I think it will be a score draw and Barca will go through on away goals.
