Hello everyone, I'm wondering whether anybody could shed light on what a control room is within the Compliance Department in an investment bank. What are its functions? what is its purpose? are there any insightful websites for this info also? help and advice would be most appreciated....thanks a bunch!!

I think essentially a Control Room seeks to manage conflicts of interest that may arise. This will include monitoring any research that is published against the restricted list, and ensuring that the chinese walls remain efficient.
It will also deal with queries from front office and approve PA deals.
I think the hours are meant to be long, and early starts are required. I'm not sure of any particular websites, but it may be useful to look at control room vacancies to see what the job spec it is.
