I was listening to a radio broadcast on Sunday morning that was talking about discrimination and prejudice in our society. It was in reference to the BNP and their growing popularity. Am I just ignorant to have not really noticed prejudice against me as an individual. I always think that if I get a job rejection it is due to my lack of suitability as opposed to skin colour.

i would not see that as naive but rather realistic. it is easy to blame external influences, but sometimes there is no other reason that the other candidate was more suitable.

Discrimination is discreet
it is the wrong address, maybe one on a council estate
the wrong husband, who doesnt want you to earn better than him
the wrong reference because your last employer lost a good worker
the wrong car parked outside when you go to the interview
or gossip...usually factually incorrect spread by overweight, unattractive, unfaithful, aggressive, greedy women obsessed with bragging about money and trying to get one over on their pretty, professional colleagues
whatever it is ...it has little to do with aptitude, ability, qualifcations and experience
