Logistics employers are hoping to encourage more women to apply for its jobs by introducing more female-friendly practices.
Acting chief executive of Skills for Logistics Dr Mick Jackson claims changes have been made to attract more women into the industry.
Flexible working practices, the development of improved working facilities for female employees with better social facilities and home working could all help boost the number of women in the sector.
Skills for Logistics is the skills council supporting firms involved in the moving, handling and storing of goods.
Dr Jackson said: "Organisations like Skills for Logistics are raising the profile of the sector and encouraging more women to play an integral part in this exciting and challenging industry."
According to the Labour Market Profile, out of all the logistics positions in Greater London, just 29 percent are filled by women. This compares unfavourably to the total percentage of women in work in Greater London which is 45 percent.
