National Working from Home Day

Danielle McQueen, 08 May 2008
On Thursday, May 15 an estimated five million people will not be going into the office. This will not be through sickies or summer holidays, but because it is National Work from Home Day (Onrec).

National Work from Home Day is aimed at highlighting smarter working practices by encouraging companies to give employees a day at home to trial initiatives such as flexible working, remote working, mobile working and working from home. All are aimed at promoting a better work-life balance.

The work-life balance is becoming a much talked about and important topic among recruiters and employees: the ‘traditional’ way of working is heading for a revolution according to Onrec.  The established and outdated working structures are are wasteful in terms of resources and time, damaging in terms of the environment and global warming, unhealthy in terms of worker wellbeing, and frustrating in terms of traffic congestion and public transport overcrowding.

Ken Sheridan, founder and Managing Director of Remote Employment, a web service dedicated to flexible and home based recruitment, believes a flexible employment solution benefits business, employees, and the country as a whole.

So why not see if you are able to work from home this Thursday instead?
