The recession has not dented the popularity of London among jobseekers.
Personnel Today reports the costly capital was among the most attractive prospects for highly-educated job seekers.
A study of more than 66,000 employees from 40 countries, found UK cities London, Manchester and Bristol were attracting those with qualifications in management, finance and engineering.
However, country was more important than city for two-thirds of job seekers with the USA the most popular choice followed by the UK and Canada.
Almost half of UK employees polled claimed they would work abroad as they could expand their horizons living overseas and nearly a quarter stated the poor economic situation was reason to leave.
Adam Marshall, director of the British Chambers of Commerce, told Personnel Today: "Despite the fact that the UK faces a long road toward recovery, this survey shows that Britain remains a popular destination for global job seekers - and that we can still attract key talent from overseas. Our cities, and especially London, are seen as good places to live and work, which could help promote economic growth and vitality in the medium-term."
