More than 100,000 sheets of paper in personal emails are sent from work addresses every year.
Cartridge retailer Cartridgesave.co.uk asked employees whether they sent personal emails from their work account, with four out of five admitting they do.
A further two in five said they also send personal emails from their personal account.
Respondents averaged nine personal emails per day - adding up to 2,070 personal emails a year.
If these emails were to be printed in full, with a minimum of two paragraphs in size 11 font, each email would take up one side of A4 paper. According to Cartridgesave.co.uk, UK businesses would need 103,500 sheets of paper to print every personal email sent via work accounts.
Ian Cowley, Managing Director of Cartridgesave.co.uk, said: "Writing personal emails during working hours may be frowned upon in some businesses, particularly if they're from professional account. However, if the emails are sent during breaks and from personal accounts it could prove to be less of a problem; particularly if people aren't wasting company paper printing them out."
